After years of experience offering leadership and management training, we understand how difficult it can be to spend days or even weeks away from work to invest in professional development. All course materials will be easily accessible from your home or office. Materials include streaming videos, webinars, virtual office hours and chats with course faculty, text documents, case studies, scenarios, and downloadable practical application exercises.
How Much Time Will You Need?
We recommend that participants in The Inclusive Manager’s Communication Toolkit plan to spend 4-6 hours per week on the course. The time will be spent reviewing course content (videos and some reading), participating in live weekly webinars with Faculty, completing the Practical Application assignments, and engaging with other leaders in the learning community.
We understand that you are busy. Sometimes you won’t be able to attend a live webinar or other scheduled event. Don’t worry. You will have archived copies of all live sessions available for you to access at your convenience.

Inclusive Leadership Best Practices
Inclusive leadership is not just a “nice to do,” it’s a must-have essential competency that today’s leaders need. Today’s managers and leaders are being judged on abilities that may not have been as highlighted or practiced in the past. Like other competencies, you need practice space to grow your knowledge, skills and confidence navigating highly complex, changing, and nuanced relationships. This Module will equip you with the essential tools to help you articulate how your values show up in your work and put them to action in ways that are beneficial to you, your team and your organization.
Walking Your Talk
Your role as a leader or manager is to help your team develop their skills, voice, and level of contribution to the organization commensurate with their potential. In a world that is rapidly changing, so are your organization’s strategy, workforce demographics, and expectations. This Module will provide you with solid strategies for aligning you and your team’s practices with current expectations and best practices for inclusive workplaces.
Nurturing What You Want to Grow
Effectiveness is just one part of your overall role as a leader. Leaders are responsible for nurturing the best in the people who work with you. By helping employees identify their unique strengths, they will align them with the organization’s goals. In this Module, you will develop strategies for unleashing the potential of your team by encouraging creativity and risk-taking. We will also provide you with must-have facilitation tools that will help your team focus, prioritize, ensure inclusivity of voices and perspectives, and manage accountability.
Equity Lives in the Process
Most managers describe “putting out fires” as the guiding force in their work. Though it is important to accomplish tasks, leaders of thriving organizations are process-savvy. In this Module, you will be guided through techniques for designing and engaging your team through some of the most essential processes for organizational effectiveness: decision-making, hiring, team formation and management, feedback, and coaching.
Indispensable, Irreplaceable You
One of the major challenges in all organizations is prioritization. With so many important things that we are and can be doing, how do we decide what to—and what not to—pursue? This module will equip you with tried-and-true leadership methods for making strategic choices and communicating with clarity to your team. You will learn techniques for harnessing your power as a leader, and identify the influence strategies that will help you advance important organizational goals. You will develop a plan for courageous action that pushes forward much needed, but often politically risky, ideas. By the end of this Module, you will have the tools to masterfully execute on major value-add benefits organizations seek from managers. *.
The Next Steps in Your Journey
Sometimes the toughest part about taking the next step is thinking through your options. Common questions are: How do I know when it’s time for me to move up in my organization? What are the pros and cons of being an internal candidate? What resources are available to help me prepare for an interview?
This Module will provide you with an analytical, rather than purely emotional, process for exploring the pros and cons of positions inside and outside of your current organization. By the end of this Module, you will be confident in your reasoning for staying in your current role or deciding to throw your hat in the ring for that next job. Most importantly, you will have rock solid tools for negotiating in any setting, and the confidence to match!
You are encouraged to register for the Inclusive Manager’s Communication Toolkit as soon as possible to give you time to complete the two additional online courses that are included FREE for enrolled participants in this Program. They are, The Essentials of Cultural Competence and Reducing the Negative Impact of Bias in the Workplace. Those additional courses will position you to fully benefit from the Program content. Further, they will provide you the fundamental vocabulary and skills needed to truly ground your leadership practice in your values.
There are six Modules in the Inclusive Manager’s Communication Toolkit. One Module will be released per week, and you will receive weekly email reminders. Weekly chat sessions with Program faculty and live sessions with DeEtta will be available multiple times throughout the 8-week session. Each Module contains 4-7 Chapters that include videos, text-based content, case studies, and practical application exercises to ensure that you are able to immediately apply what you are learning to your daily work.

About DeEtta Jones, Founder of DeEtta Jones and Associates
DeEtta Jones is the Founder and Principal of DeEtta Jones and Associates, a consulting firm that provides services to enhance workplace culture and performance. DeEtta has more than 20 years of experience as a management consultant, equity, diversity and inclusion educator, and organization development and training professional. She has helped to design and launch 13 leadership programs, the Multicultural Community Retreat, facilitated countless strategic planning and organizational culture consulting engagements, offered the Library Management Skills Institutes all over the world, and recently launched the Equity Toolkit™ and Implementation Playbook™. She is now one of the most sought-after speakers and consultants in her field.
Before launching DeEtta Jones and Associates in 2005, DeEtta served for 10 years as Director of Diversity and then Director of the Office of Leadership and Management Services at the Association of Research Libraries. Prior to this, she was Director of Multicultural Education at Colorado State University and Director of Human Rights Advocacy and Education for the City of Fort Collins.
DeEtta has an MBA from The Johns Hopkins University, and an M.S. in Student Affairs and a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University. She also attended the MLIS Program at The Catholic University of America.
