Meet The Team

Vanessa Seals

Vanessa Seals, DJA Consultant, is an educator and advocate passionate about addressing inequity within higher education and other institutions of power. She has spent 15 years in the higher education space, where she has worked with students, faculty, and staff from multiple fields. She’s held positions at Stanford University, where she completed her PhD in 2020, and at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Vanessa has substantial experience with teaching, facilitating, and coaching individuals and groups. While completing her doctoral work, Vanessa was heavily involved in promoting and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Stanford Women’s Community Center, the Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity, the Diversity and First-Gen Office, and the School of Humanities and Sciences.  

As the Director of the McNair Scholars Program at Westminster College (Salt Lake City, UT), Vanessa currently works with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students who aspire to get PhD in their chosen fields. In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching movies, going to the theater, and traveling.
