Maisha Carey is an equity-minded librarian, educator and facilitator with more than 10 years of experience in school and academic library settings as well as the non-profit sector. Her passion for creating equitable and enriching learning experiences in libraries has led Maisha to turn her attention to projects that improve organizational effectiveness and create supportive, transparent and inclusive systems. This includes strategic planning, change management, leadership development and workplace climate initiatives.
Maisha currently serves as Organizational Development and Learning Librarian as well as Chief Diversity Advocate for the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. Maisha has taught and coordinated library services in academic, community college and EC-12 libraries as well as managed programs for a non-profit organization to equip student leaders with the entrepreneurial skills to build their own social-action ventures.
Maisha has a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Maryland with a concentration in Archives and Records Management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in History also from the University of Maryland.
